The Dying Ocean

The oceans that are surrounding us are in danger. The marine life is struggling to survive due to the high percentage of trash that is being thrown into it. It is found that plastic pollution is the biggest killer in the ocean. The marine life are eating the plastic, which will later be on our plates. There is also the huge issue of over fishing that is causing there to be a significantly low number of fish in the seas.

However, there are solutions that can possibly save the ocean and the marine life that live in it. Decreasing the number of fishermen will create a stop in the over fishing and will allow there to be wages for those fishermen.

    I think that you did a very good job with your blog. You put a lot of information in there that is important that I have never heard of, like I did not realize that there was a problem with over fishing. I did know that the pollution in the ocean was vey bad. There is so much trash in it that is killing the plants and animals.

    You did a great job on talking about the marine life. You put everything that is important into a short statement that makes sense. I do understand that there are too many fisherman out there and that they should stop fishing for fish or else there won't be fish in this world anymore. I agree that there is too much plastic in this world today but the only thing to help with that is to create some type of material that plastic could go in in order to decrease the plastic population.

    You did a great job on your blog by talking about how the marine life is suffering due to the plastic pollution and the decrease of fish in the seas due to overfishing. I wasn’t aware of the overfishing issue and the commercial whaling that’s been taking place until now. We need to realize how our environment is affected by these types of issues.

    I think you picked a really important issue for your blog and explained the topic very well. I also agree that the amount of plastic in the ocean is catastrophic to the marine life. I think this issue is brought up a lot, but it still has not been fixed over the years. I think these types of issues are some of the most important because it is killing off marine life and developing countries main food source comes from the ocean and fishing.

    Excellent post you, marine life and the ocean is a very important subject and you managed to highlight the most important information that harm marine life and I still believe that people can collaborate to avoid doing this harm to marine life and oceans.

Energy: Hydropower Pros and Cons

 Hydropower is not often talked about as a primary option for sustainable energy, however, 6.6% of energy produced in the U.S. is through hydropower, compared to solar energy which happens to only be 2.3% and is usually the first thought when someone mentions “clean energy.” The reason for this being the majority hydropower plants only give energy to large-scale, industrial operations.  Hydropower boasts a few positives that make it a viable option, those being that it is reliable, safe, and produces a very low amount of emissions. Other than that, they are fairly expensive to build, and they have a very realistic potential to cause droughts.
