Energy: Biden and Natural Gas

This article reviews how Biden's policies have put the power in the hands of the elite in fossil fuels to hold our prices insanely high. When we don't use federal land for extracting natural gas and preemptively shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline. "Retail gas prices – averaging $3.38 per gallon on Oct. 25 – have risen roughly 50% in 2021, surpassing pre-pandemic levels." This rise in natural gas costs will prove to be quite horrible for low-income citizens, who depend on a semi-constant rate for winter heating. How this crisis will be handled by low-income metropolitan areas, which depend on natural gas to warm their cities. "Combined with price spikes across a variety of goods, inflation is hitting Americans’ wallets and threatening the economic rebound heading into the 2022 midterm elections."     This is one I can comment on. The gas prices are outrageous. I can’t stand it, I hate driving to my house and it’s only about thirty minutes away. The whole gas spike thing is a terrible deal, thanks for writing this it really got my attention.

    This is something that is not too terribly bad but at the same time gas prices in other states are outrageously high. It shouldn't be that high and who know when he will go back to 1 dollar to 2.50 a gallon. It is ridiculous that they are this high.

Energy: Hydropower Pros and Cons

 Hydropower is not often talked about as a primary option for sustainable energy, however, 6.6% of energy produced in the U.S. is through hydropower, compared to solar energy which happens to only be 2.3% and is usually the first thought when someone mentions “clean energy.” The reason for this being the majority hydropower plants only give energy to large-scale, industrial operations.  Hydropower boasts a few positives that make it a viable option, those being that it is reliable, safe, and produces a very low amount of emissions. Other than that, they are fairly expensive to build, and they have a very realistic potential to cause droughts.
