Energy: CO2 Emissions Decline Due to COVID 19

With the spread of COVID 19 in 2020, the amount of CO2 emissions declined significantly. With people being forced to stay at home, the need to drive to and from work was virtually non-existent, and led to a decrease in personal and public transport. Global energy-related CO2 emissions fell by 5.8% according to the latest statistical data. This was the largest annual percentage decline since World War II. In other terms, about 2 million tons of CO2 emissions were non-existent in 2020.
