Land and Soil Pollution

     I found an article by EEA about our land and soil pollution. Soil and land pollution are a very important thing and they tie together very well. Whenever we have pollution on our land it can get into the soil. As many of us probably already know pesticides and fertilizers are used on many parts of the land. The things we put on the land for farming get soaked into the soil. These chemicals can then get into different waterways. These things that we put on the land can reduce oxygen levels in water, harm animals and plant species. This is something that needs to be stopped. We need to think about all of the other things we are affecting when we put these things into our land and soil.

Energy: Hydropower Pros and Cons

 Hydropower is not often talked about as a primary option for sustainable energy, however, 6.6% of energy produced in the U.S. is through hydropower, compared to solar energy which happens to only be 2.3% and is usually the first thought when someone mentions “clean energy.” The reason for this being the majority hydropower plants only give energy to large-scale, industrial operations.  Hydropower boasts a few positives that make it a viable option, those being that it is reliable, safe, and produces a very low amount of emissions. Other than that, they are fairly expensive to build, and they have a very realistic potential to cause droughts. It ends off with them giving numbers on there work with BI intelligence and how much money they made in 2020 and what they are projected to make in 2050.
