Threats to Our Oceans

It has been noticed that there are multiple factors that are impacting our oceans. Such reason is the pollution specifically in plastic. The plastic is being eaten by all of the marine life that it is starting to end up on our plates. Another factor that is killing the oceans is the over population of fishing. There is not enough fish in the oceans for fishermen to be catching. This results in a lack of fish. 

There are solutions to these issues. The main solution is sanctuaries, protecting them is the main part. There are sanctuaries that are as large or larger than the states of Texas, California, and New York. These sanctuaries need to be protected so that there can be more marine life and cleaner oceans for the marine life.

    I thought what you were saying in your blogger had a lot of good information in it. When I was in high school I used to do many reports over the pollution in the ocean, because it was always something that was interesting to me. I agree that the plastic in the ocean in ones of the main pollutions in it. There is actually huge garbage patches floating in the ocean. These garbage patches are a big part of the pollution in the ocean

    Kayla, I truly like your blog. The image that you chose is a very good one. We can see the different part of the sanctuary along the side of United state. You spoke about the plastic pollution. This issue is important and we have to do careful because our life and the animal life depends of this.

Energy: Hydropower Pros and Cons

 Hydropower is not often talked about as a primary option for sustainable energy, however, 6.6% of energy produced in the U.S. is through hydropower, compared to solar energy which happens to only be 2.3% and is usually the first thought when someone mentions “clean energy.” The reason for this being the majority hydropower plants only give energy to large-scale, industrial operations.  Hydropower boasts a few positives that make it a viable option, those being that it is reliable, safe, and produces a very low amount of emissions. Other than that, they are fairly expensive to build, and they have a very realistic potential to cause droughts.
