    There are many things that we do that effects our land. One of the big things is waste disposal. We throw so much away everyday, but when you are doing so you probably do not think about where it is going to go. Most of the waste that we throw out ends up at landfill sites. Here the waste sits and waits to be burned. The problem with this is when we are burning these waste piles we are putting smoke and different gases into our atmosphere. There is also biodegradable things, but they can also let off gasses, such as methane gas, while they are decomposing.This is why we need to recycle as much as we can, so we do not have these big landfill sites.

    I also think that waste disposal has a huge impact on our land and water. I wish that people would take recycling more seriously and try to implement it so that the ones that can be recycled, recycled and the trash goes to landfills. This is a really great topic and it should be talked about more.

Energy: Hydropower Pros and Cons

 Hydropower is not often talked about as a primary option for sustainable energy, however, 6.6% of energy produced in the U.S. is through hydropower, compared to solar energy which happens to only be 2.3% and is usually the first thought when someone mentions “clean energy.” The reason for this being the majority hydropower plants only give energy to large-scale, industrial operations.  Hydropower boasts a few positives that make it a viable option, those being that it is reliable, safe, and produces a very low amount of emissions. Other than that, they are fairly expensive to build, and they have a very realistic potential to cause droughts.
