Energy: Electric Vehicles
When the term “electric car” is brought up, people often have a variety of different reactions. Most people question the cost and maintenance, or the reliability, even the safety. Most electric vehicles are being made so that in the next decade, a much greater population will have full commitment in the use of electric cars. Earlier this year General Motors announced its aims to stop selling petrol-powered and diesel-powered vehicles by 2035. In Germany, Audi has made a similar statement by predicting 2033 will be the year they stop producing gasoline-powered vehicles. Currently, the biggest issue most manufacturers are seeing is the supply and demand required to make the millions of lithium batteries to produce these vehicles. In regards to this, the cost to produce these batteries has significantly decreased over the last few years, and the hope is that by 2040, the majority of vehicles out on public roads will in fact be electric.

ReplyDeleteYour post was short sweet but to the point and made it very clear. I think that electric cars will be a great help in lowering the use of oil once manufacturers make them more reliable and longer lasting until their next charge. Overall I think that electric cars are worth the hassle because we need them.
